Property Overview

Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa occupies a 55-acre island in South Ari Atoll, measuring approximately 900 metres long and 250 metres wide. The island is surrounded by white-sand beaches, a lagoon and a house reef that can be accessed from several points along the shore.

The resort caters for both families and adults, with designated accommodation, dining and pool areas for each. Facilities include two swimming pools, Duniye Spa, a fitness centre, children’s playground, games room and watersports and diving centres. Its South Ari Atoll location also provides access to an area known for whale shark and manta encounters.

How far is the nearest beach?

Beachfront Villas, Adjacent Beachfront Villas and Romantic Beachfront Villas are positioned only steps from the sand. Tropical Villas are located within the gardens, while Romantic Ocean Villas stand above the lagoon and provide direct access to the water rather than the beach.

Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa is reached from Velana International Airport by seaplane. The flight takes approximately 25 minutes.

Rooms

The renovated accommodation collection includes five villa categories:

● Tropical Villas measure 55 square metres and are located within the island’s gardens. They include a king-size bed, private porch and partially open-air bathroom with a rain shower.

● Adjacent Beachfront Villas consist of two separately booked villas beneath one roof. Each measures 55 square metres and can accommodate up to two adults and two children or three adults.

● Beachfront Villas also measure 55 square metres and provide a private porch close to the beach.

● Romantic Beachfront Villas are reserved for guests aged 18 and over. These 65-square-metre villas include a bathtub, partially open-air bathroom and beachfront setting.

● Romantic Ocean Villas are adults-only overwater units measuring 85 square metres, with a private staircase leading into the lagoon.

Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a television, minibar, safe and tea and coffee facilities are provided across the villa range.

Food & Drink

Dining includes two buffet restaurants, two à la carte restaurants and four bars:

● Funama serves family guests, while the adults-only Ahima Restaurant is allocated to guests staying in the Romantic Beachfront and Romantic Ocean Villas. Both offer buffet meals, themed dinners and live cooking stations.

● Asian Wok is an overwater restaurant specialising in Asian cuisine and Japanese teppanyaki.

● Faru focuses on seafood and opens for dinner.

● Bonthi Bar is open around the clock, while Boashi Bar serves drinks and ice cream beside the family pool.

● Sunset Bar is reserved for adults and overlooks the infinity pool. Asian Wok Bar serves drinks above the water.

Boashi Café, private beach dinners and room service provide further dining options. Dietary requirements can be accommodated when communicated before arrival.

Sports & Entertainment

The house reef can be explored independently from the island, while the Euro-Divers centre provides guided dives, orientation dives and PADI courses from beginner level through to Divemaster. Certified divers can join single-tank, two-tank and full-day excursions to sites around South Ari Atoll.

Further activities include kayaking, windsurfing, tennis, padel, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, billiards and football. Excursions include sunset cruises and visits to the local island of Dhangethi, while scheduled evening entertainment and a games room provide options after dark.

SPA & Wellness

Duniye Spa provides massages, body treatments and wellness therapies in an overwater setting. The spa programme also includes yoga sessions covering breathing exercises, postures and guided relaxation. Selected treatments may be included in or discounted through certain meal-plan packages, subject to availability.
