Property Overview

Relais de l’Hermitage is a three-star resort on La Réunion’s west coast, close to the Ermitage lagoon and its protected marine reserve. Formerly known as Novotel Saint-Gilles, the hotel provides direct access to the lagoon and serves as a convenient base for excursions around the island.

The property has 161 rooms arranged across two floors within a three-hectare tropical garden. Every room includes a patio or balcony, while the grounds also contain two swimming pools and spaces for organised sports and leisure activities. Families are particularly well catered for, with dedicated room options and activities for younger guests.

Roland Garros Airport is approximately 45 minutes from the hotel by road. Journey times may vary according to traffic, particularly along the coastal route from Saint-Denis.

Rooms

The hotel offers Standard, Double and Family Rooms, all measuring 25 square metres. Every room is air-conditioned and includes a telephone, television, safe, hairdryer, shower or bathtub and a welcome tray.

Standard Rooms have one double bed and one single bed, accommodating up to three guests. Each opens onto a balcony or patio overlooking the gardens.

Double Rooms are intended for two adults and contain one double bed, with twin beds available on request. Accessible rooms can also be requested, subject to availability.

Family Rooms are located on the ground floor and have one double bed with a trundle bed. They accommodate up to four guests and open onto a garden-facing patio. Connecting rooms, cots and cribs may be arranged when requested at the time of booking.

Food & Drink

Le Tamarin bar overlooks the garden and serves cocktails, local rum and savoury snacks such as samosas, bonbon piment and bouchon dumplings.

Case Vanille opens onto the pool and garden and serves an à la carte lunch menu. The daily selection changes regularly, and advance reservations are recommended because seating is limited.

Le Papayer is the hotel’s buffet restaurant, serving varied local dishes at dinner. Its open-sided setting creates an informal atmosphere, with live music and entertainment scheduled on selected evenings.

Guests can spend their time between the hotel’s two outdoor swimming pools, the tropical gardens and the nearby lagoon. Organised activities include water aerobics, aqua cycling, pool workouts, volleyball, pétanque, Zumba and cross training.
