Overview
Praslin Island, originally named Ile de Palme (Palm Island) by a French explorer in the mid-18th century due to its abundant palm trees, is situated in the western Indian Ocean. Positioned 45 kilometers (28 miles) northeast of Mahe, Praslin is the second-most populous island in Seychelles. It was once a favorite hideout for pirates and now attracts tourists with its stunning beaches and lush rainforests, embodying a tropical paradise. The island's crystal-clear waters are famous for scuba diving, and its coastline is perfect for snorkeling.

Spot Black Parrots at Vallee de Mai
A visit to Praslin isn’t complete without exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Vallee de Mai. This site is perfect for wildlife enthusiasts, renowned for its rare coco de Mer palm trees. These palms, which comprise about a quarter of the valley’s plants, are unique to Seychelles and give Vallee de Mai its World Heritage status.
