The Maldives is an island nation in the Indian Ocean, with a total of 1,192 islands. It’s known for its crystal clear turquoise lagoons and white sand beaches, as well as its friendly people and abundance of nature. The Maldives is also a great place for families to visit - kids will love exploring the many sandy beaches and fishing in the lagoon or snorkeling in the blue water.
The Maldives has a reputation for being one of the most expensive countries to visit, but this reputation is not entirely accurate. Prices vary a lot depending on where you go and when, but in general a family of four can expect to spend around $1,500 per week while visiting.
The main resort in the Maldives is the famous The Residence, which opened in 2013. The Residence is a luxury hotel and resort located in the capital city Male. It is a family-friendly resort, which means it has child-friendly activities, food and hotels. Nearby are many other family-friendly resorts in the Maldives. They are located in the outer islands of the Maldives, so they are not as well connected to the international tourist scene, but they are still a great option for families wanting to experience the Maldives at a more affordable cost. The Residence Resort & Spa is a luxury resort in the Maldives with 297 rooms and six private beaches. The resort is also home to the only 5-star kids’ resort in the Maldives.
The Maldives is a great place for families to visit. There are many kid-friendly activities for all ages, from water sports to snorkeling and ATV tours. During the day, kids can explore the many sandy beaches or the coral reefs while parents relax on the sand. In the evening, families can visit one of the many water parks in the Maldives, where they can enjoy a variety of activities like jet ski, snorkeling and wave riding. These water parks often have special programs for kids, such as a lazy river, playgrounds, pool games and more. Many water parks also have restaurants with kid-friendly food, so you don’t have to worry about feeding your hungry child after an activity. For kids who are older and enjoy an activity more challenging than swimming, there are tours that take you up in an ATV for a ride through the island or through the water.
There are many good kid-friendly activities in the Maldives, but we found that the water parks are the best bet. There are a few water parks in the main tourist areas, but many water parks in the outer islands are smaller and less-known. There are also many good water parks in Sri Lanka near the southern coast, which is a great option for families who would like a longer stay in the region. Visiting the water parks for a few days can be a great way to experience the Maldives with the kids without breaking the bank. While there are many water parks in the Maldives, we found that they were a little too crowded for a good value.
The main islands in the Maldives have a lot of Western fast food and western-style restaurants, but in the outer islands we found many more traditional options and local delicacies. Many of the local delicacies and traditional foods are not available in the main islands, so visiting one of the many local islands is a must for the best food experience in the Maldives. In the main islands, we found that most hotels had a few restaurants with kid’s options, but in the outer islands we found fewer options. Many of the local restaurants had special family menus with kid-friendly options, such as rice and curry, roti, fish, chicken and more.
Most hotels have a few baby strollers available for guests to use, but renting a stroller or a baby carriage is not common practice. Baby carriages are available for rent in many areas of the Maldives, including Male, where The Residence is located, but this service is not available in the outer islands, where there are fewer options for renting baby carriages.
A travel cot or a crib is a helpful item to bring to the Maldives. They are great for bringing the baby to the beach or for an outdoor activity, such as hiking or snorkeling, where you need to keep the baby safe from the open water. Travel cots are very easy to fold and store, they are lightweight and they are extremely portable, making it easy to pack them up and bring them with you on your travels. Cribs are a little heavier to carry and they do not fold as easily as travel cots, but they are much more comfortable for the baby to sleep in.
The Maldives is an amazing destination for families, with beautiful beaches, great nature and many kid-friendly activities. During your visit to the Maldives, you should remember to bring a travel cot or a crib, strollers and water shoes, a good book and more. The Maldives is a great place to visit, you won’t be disappointed!
