10 best places to visit in Kenya

Aug 01, 2022

If you've wanted to see Africa for yourself, Kenya is a great place to start. It is probably Africa's best-kept travel secret and one of Africa's most popular tourist destinations in terms of its magnificent scenery, excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities, architectural styles, and cultural traditions.

Kenya, known for its unforgettable savanna safaris, is one of the few places on Earth that evoke a sense of excitement and love. It has been a popular tourist destination not only for adventure travelers but also for families and honeymooners. Quintrip guarantees you your vacation in Kenya will be unforgettable. Let's plan a tour of this most popular destination using Kenya holiday packages.

Kenya is a great country to visit because of its many interesting sites, prized for their aesthetic value, and unparalleled chances to relax in true African fashion. Of many, these are just ten that showcase Kenya's natural splendor.

10 best places to visit in Kenya

1.  Nairobi National Park

Located only seven kilometers from Nairobi's bustling downtown, Nairobi National Park is the only wildlife refuge near a major metropolitan center worldwide. It is a must-see for any visitor to Kenya using Kenya packages offered by Quintrip.

Many kinds of animals live in the park, including the olive baboon,  Burchell's zebra, African buffalo, blue wildebeest, leopard, lion, and many more.

The park is also notable for housing one of the world's few remaining wild populations of black rhinos, and up to 500 different species of birds call the park home permanently.

2. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Nursery

It is located on the outskirts of Nairobi National Park and was established in 1977 to provide a haven for elephant calves abandoned in game reserves and national parks. The baby elephants are bottle-fed by their keepers until they are about two or three years old.

When baby elephants are brought to this nursery, they are hand-reared until they are old enough to be released into protected areas.

When you go to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Nursery, you can interact with baby elephants in several ways. You may aid these amazing creatures even more by adopting a baby elephant, giraffe, or rhinoceros before you leave, and the organization will keep you updated on the animal's development.

The nursery is near the Nairobi National Park's entrance, making it easy to see the nursery and Nairobi National Park in a single day.

3. Lake Victoria(Victoria Nyanza)

Lake Victoria is one of Kenya's most popular tourist destinations because it's the largest lake in Africa and the second-largest in the world. It flows through three countries: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

More than 200 fish species such as African tetras, bagrid catfish, Cyprinids, air-breathing catfish, and Tilapia have been preserved in the lake's 69,484 square kilometers of water, making it one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to visit in Kenya. This area is one of the best places to go birdwatching because it is so remote and wild.

4. Lamu Island

The Lamu archipelago is a must-see in Kenya because of its diverse and interesting blend of cultures. It dates back to the 12th century and is the oldest and most authentic surviving center that upholds the Swahili tradition in East Africa.

The island's top attractions are the Lamu Museum, which features exhibits on Swahili culture,  a fort from the nineteenth century, traditional dhow boats on the water, and the Donkey Sanctuary. Visiting these historic sites is like traveling back in time.

Furthermore, the area has luxurious hotels and several beautiful, untouched beaches. White-sand beaches and Arabic coffee in local cafes are available for those who need a break from the island's rich history.

Located only two hours by plane from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi, the UNESCO-listed island gives the impression of having traveled to the end of the world, but also in time.

5. Mountain Elgon

Mount Elgon is an extinct shield volcano and the country's eighth highest peak. A considerable proportion of Kenya's visitors come here specifically to engage in sports, making it one of the country's most sought-after tourist destinations.

6. Lake Nakuru National Park

Established in 1961, One of Kenya's most stunning natural features is Lake Nakuru National Park. The park is home to over 450 species of birds, but it is well-known due to its massive population of vivid pink flamingos.

The park is also home to various animals, including white rhinos, Rothschild's giraffes, lions, leopards, and pythons.

Lake Nakuru, one of the Rift Valley soda lakes, which accounts for over a third of the park's size, is where you'll find the greatest concentration of birds.

7. Mt Kenya

The tallest peak in Kenya is the same as Mount Kilimanjaro, the second highest in Africa; Mt Kenya is one of the most stunning destinations in Kenya, thanks to its snowy summits and glaciers. Hikers can reach the highest mountain with some technical climbing experience.

8. Diani Beach

Diani Beach, located 30 kilometers south of Mombasa, is undoubtedly one of Kenya's most beautiful beaches. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation, go no further than Diani Beach. It is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the country's natural splendor.

Soak in the sun and relax on the pristine beaches of Diani Beach. This breathtaking beach is known for its powdery white sand and swaying palm trees framed by the huge Indian Ocean.

Beachgoers can choose from various entertaining pursuits, including scuba diving, fishing, and kitesurfing, or relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There are plenty of places to eat and buy, including restaurants and snack bars.

9. Hell's Gate National Park

To the northwest of Nairobi is where you'll find Hell's Gate National Park. The total landmass of the park is 68.25 square kilometers. It is a popular destination for climbers because of two extinct volcanoes.

Hot Springs, the Mervyn Carnelley Raptor Hide, Fisher's Tower, and many other amazing sites and activities can be found in Hell's Gate National Park. Interestingly, Hell's Gate National Park is home to Olkaria Geothermal Station.

Animals as diverse as lions, Leopards, baboons, eland, African buffalos, gazelles, Hyenas, and more than a hundred species of birds may all be found in the park.
